Tefila: The Act of Prayer

01 May @ 6:45 pm - 8:00 pm

In person only

Why does Jewish prayer look the way it does? Can I still pray if I don’t believe in God?

What is the history behind the Siddur, the prayer book? Which prayers do I say when a loved one has died, and why?

Join Rabbi Jill Rubin for a four-session deep dive into tefila, the act of prayer. We will explore a brief history of Jewish prayer, how our Reform prayer book looks different from traditional prayer books, the theology of prayer and who we pray to, and prayers around memory and death. No prior knowledge is needed, and you do not have to attend the entire series.

*Please note that the final session will take place on Zoom.
